While preparing for her AMusA piano exam, Katie competed in Tamworth Eisteddfod, and won the Open Championship at Tamworth Eisteddfod, with a beautiful performance of the first movement of Haydn's C minor Sonata, and Debussy's beautiful 'Evening in Granada'!

In addition to this she also won the Jean Coates Memorial Bach Open section,     and the Romantic Piano Solo Open section.

Well deserved results for a dedicated young lady!

- Lake Macquarie Vocal Eisteddfod 2022 -

Congratulations to Matthew, who won first place in both the 'Michael Saunders Aria' and the 'Hawkins Family Stage & Screen' sections at the Lake Macquarie Eisteddfod last October!  This was a very exciting result, as these sections encompass a number of different genres.

Our thanks to both Michael Saunders & the Hawkins family for sponsoring both these wonderful sections.  Matthew is pictured here with the adjudicator, Mrs Karen Walmsley.

Matthew also finished his Bachelor of Music at Sydney Conservatorium, with a high distinction in his special performance project. And on top of all this, gained his AMusA in Classical Voice - What talent, what dedication and what a year!

- Lake Macquarie Piano Eisteddfod 2022-

2020 News - Achieving despite the first 'Covid' Year!

Well, like everybody else, we had a challenging year in 2021.  Things were humming along nicely at the start of the year...only to be disrupted by the first lockdown!  Which meant that all our students (and their wonderful parents!) learned a lot about learning piano online.  Whilst we still value traditional in-person lessons, we were thrilled with just how successful both students and teachers were in surviving and then thriving with Zoom lessons!

Of course, prior to Covid, our long term distance students had already shown us, over the last few years, just how effective online lessons can be - But it has been simply stunning to see the results this year, despite the majority of students' lessons being online for at least 6 months.  Congratulations to Everyone!  We are just so proud of you all for persevering & overcoming challenges in 2020!

Take a look through the gallery below...

The wonderfully consistent exam results above are from 8 different exam sessions & examiners, in 2 states!

(All exam results are for Comprehensive Piano & Piano Repertoire, unless otherwise shown.)

Congratulations to EVERYONE, on your great progress in 2020 - We are so proud of all of your efforts and achievements!

Thank you to our local Newcastle Music Teacher Association, who continued to provide

quality music performance opportunities for students in Mid 2020:

Preparing performance videos for the Joyce Blewitt & Nan Price Scholarships, for Elissa & Katie, was a great way for them to polish up performance skills during a lockdown period earlier in the year - And they were both very happy with their results!

- Piano League -

While preparing for her 'Performance Certificate' exam, Katie entered the International Piano Star Competition 2020 amateur division, in October, and was thrilled to gain a 3rd place.  What a great way to build up performance experience and confidence ready for such a challenging exam level, despite the shutdown in 2020!

~ 2016 & 2017 Recap - Some of Our Achievements ~

Our '30 Piece Challenge'

Running for the first time in 2016, there were several who chose to participate at this level - after all, 30 pieces in a year is a pretty big effort!

Congratulations to:

Georgia, Adeline, Elijah, Isabelle, Kirra, Adam and Isabella for learning over 30 pieces each - Well Done!

Making an effort to master a great number of pieces has many benefits - especially in terms of improving sight-reading, technique and musicality.  Its pretty logical really - the more pieces you learn, the more music you know!

Our '40+ Piece Challenge'

This was the third year in a row we have offered the '40 Piece Challenge' - and make no mistake, this is a very big challenge for those choosing to get involved!

Congratulations to:

40+ Pieces: Riley and Joshua

50+ Pieces: Lana

60+ Pieces: Rhy and Marley

70+ Pieces: Chelsea

80+ Pieces: Rianna

Yes, I kid you not - these students really have achieved this many pieces - well done to you all.  (And yes, Rianna has set a new studio record with her 80+ pieces!)
